Tips to Get the Word Out
Voting for the 2026 Dover’s Best Awards is open September 1 through October 15, 2026. Let your customers know you’re participating and make it easy for them to vote.
Share on Social Media
Post your Vote For Us graphic on Facebook, Instagram and other social media pages. Include the voting link and consider posting a reminder again before voting closes.
Email & Text Your Customers
Let your customers know that voting is open. Use one of the ready-to-use messages in this toolkit or write your own, and include a direct link to vote.
Promote It at Your Business
Display the Vote For Us sign where customers will see it. The QR code gives them a quick way to access voting while they're at your business.
Add It to Your Website
Use the horizontal Vote For Us graphic on your website or in an email newsletter and link it to the voting page.
Ask—But Keep It Simple
A personal invitation can be the most effective. Let customers know you're participating and simply ask: “If we've earned your vote, we'd appreciate your support in Dover's Best.”
Make it Easy to Vote.
Whenever you promote Dover’s Best digitally, include the voting link. When promoting it in your business, display the QR code.

Official Rules - Dover's Best 2026
The Dover’s Best Awards recognize the local businesses and organizations that earn the support of the Dover community. Voting is conducted through the Hometown Living app.
Voting Period
Voting begins September 1, 2026, and ends October 15, 2026.
Who Can Vote
Voting is open to community members using the Hometown Living app. No purchase is necessary to participate.
One Vote Per Person, Per Category
Unlike contests that encourage the same person to return and vote every day, Dover’s Best is designed to emphasize unique community participation. Each participant may cast one vote in each category during the voting period. Voting requires a registered Hometown Living account with a valid email address and cell phone number.
Business Eligibility
Businesses are not required to maintain a physical location within Dover. To be eligible for Dover's Best, a business must actively serve customers in the Dover community or demonstrate a meaningful business presence in the Dover area. Dover Living reserves the right to determine eligibility to ensure nominees have a legitimate connection to the community.
Multiple Awards
A business may compete in and win more than one category.
Fair Voting
Businesses are encouraged to ask customers, employees, friends, followers and community members for their support. However, attempts to manipulate voting through duplicate accounts, automated voting, false identities or other methods intended to circumvent the one-vote-per-person rule may result in votes being removed or a business being disqualified.
Determining the Winners
The eligible business receiving the highest number of valid votes in each category will be named the 2026 Dover’s Best Winner for that category.
Ties
In the event of a tie, Dover’s Best reserves the right to recognize multiple winners or use a predetermined tie-breaking procedure.
Changes & Eligibility Decisions
Dover’s Best reserves the right to review voting activity, determine business and category eligibility, remove invalid votes, correct errors, and make reasonable adjustments necessary to protect the fairness and integrity of the awards.
Winner Recognition
Winners may receive recognition through Dover’s Best promotional materials, social media, the Hometown Living app, the Dover Living magazine, award signage, plaques and other community recognition.
